Official: Igor Jovićević takes charge of Ludogorets again
Ludogorets has officially announced the return of Igor Jovićević as head of the team, a second spell for the Croatian coach, who led the club to a treble in the 2024/25 season. He replaces Thomas Reis, who left for Trabzonspor in exchange for substantial compensation.
Ludogorets has officially unveiled its new head coach, Igor Jovićević, who returns to lead the Eagles for the second time. During his previous spell, in the 2024/25 season, the Croatian guided the Razgrad side to a treble.
The coach replaces Thomas Reis, who left the Huvepharma Arena to take over Trabzonspor, with the Turkish club paying substantial compensation for his services.
The club announced that negotiations with Jovićević were successfully finalized and that he will lead his first training session with his new team on September 24. The coach returns with part of his previous staff: his Ukrainian assistants and the Spanish fitness coach he has worked with before. His official presentation to the media is scheduled for September 26 at 11:00 at the Huvepharma Arena.
Jovićević first took over Ludogorets in the autumn of 2024 and in just ten months achieved a historic treble for the club, the third in its history after those in 2012 and 2014. Under his leadership, the Eagles won their 14th consecutive national title, the Bulgarian Cup and the Super Cup. After leaving, he took charge of Poland's Widzew Łódź.
During his time in charge, Jovićević also led Ludogorets to strong performances in the Europa League league phase against a number of tough European opponents. In total that season, the Croatian coach recorded 42 matches at the helm of the Eagles, in which the team achieved 25 wins, 11 draws and 6 defeats.
"I'm happy to be coming back to my family. I have a dream that I believe will come true," the new head coach said upon his return to the club.
