The fairy tale of Como and Cesc Fàbregas continues in full force! The Italian side recorded its historic first Champions League win, routing RB Leipzig 4-1 in the first league-phase match of the competition for both teams. Como was extremely clinical in front of goal and left the Germans no chance, with young talents Martin Baturina and Nico Paz among the heroes of the night: the former scored and assisted, while the Argentine provided two assists.
The historic goal came as early as the 15th minute, when, after a fine combination move, Baturina controlled the ball in the penalty area, wrong-footed two defenders and fired it into the net for 1-0. Shortly afterward, the Germans missed a good chance to equalize, and later RB Leipzig failed to convert two more opportunities.
Those misses were cruelly punished when Como doubled its lead in the 38th minute. Baturina was again decisive, this time with an assist, setting up a teammate who didn't hesitate to beat the visitors' goalkeeper for 2-0.
The match was finally settled in the 54th minute, when Nico Paz set up a young Senegalese striker, who scored the hosts' third goal with a powerful strike. The Germans pulled one back four minutes later with a beautiful long-range shot, but immediately afterward conceded a fourth goal, scored by a Como substitute, as Nico Paz recorded his second assist of the evening.
