English teams off to a perfect start in the Champions League and Europa League
After impressive results in the first round of the Champions League, the English representatives also showed their strength in the opening Europa League matches, with all eight Premier League teams in the two competitions starting with wins.
English teams continued their imposing form in the opening Europa League fixtures, having already impressed in the first round of the Champions League. As a result, all eight Premier League representatives in the two competitions began their European campaigns with victories.
In the Champions League, there were five wins in total, three of them with clean sheets. The most emphatic result came from an English team's thrashing of an Azerbaijani debutant, while another side won at home after coming from behind against Spanish opposition. The other three victories were achieved away from home, against Italian, Portuguese and Belgian opponents.
The debutants in the competitions didn't lag behind either: three English teams making their first Europa League appearance also recorded wins, with a home victory over a Dutch side, a rout of a Polish visitor, and an away triumph against a Spanish team.
With that, if the expected win also materializes in an upcoming Conference League match on October 15, all nine English representatives in the three European competitions will have started their seasons with a perfect record.
