Sinner and Cobolli trained together in Monte Carlo ahead of the Laver Cup
Italy's two leading tennis players, Jannik Sinner and Flavio Cobolli, held a joint training session in Monte Carlo just before Cobolli left for the Laver Cup in London. For Sinner, the session is an important part of his recovery from a knee injury.
Preparation for upcoming challenges brought the two highest-ranked Italians in the ATP rankings onto the same courts. World number one Jannik Sinner and world number seven Flavio Cobolli held an intense practice session in Monte Carlo, just before Cobolli traveled to London to take part in the Laver Cup.
A photo from their joint session, shared by Cobolli on social media, quickly caught the attention of the tennis community and confirmed that the two maintain good relations and continue to work together on court. This is not the first time they have trained together this year: earlier in the season they also did so on the grass courts of Wimbledon, as well as at the tournament in Rome.
For Sinner, the session in Monte Carlo is part of his recovery from tendon inflammation in his right knee, a problem that caused him to miss the US Open. Besides Cobolli, the Italian has also trained with Polish and Italian colleagues from the tour in recent weeks, while gradually increasing his workload with the aim of being fully ready for his return to competition.
The captain of Italy's Davis Cup team expressed satisfaction with how the relationship and form of the two players are developing. Given their strong season, the prospect of Sinner and Cobolli playing together for Italy at the Finals in November looks promising for fans of Italian tennis.
