Alcaraz praises Zverev: He's probably the best player in the world right now

Carlos Alcaraz returns to the court this weekend at the Laver Cup in London, where he will play alongside Alexander Zverev for Team Europe. The Spaniard spoke about his expectations for the tournament, his comeback from injury and his debut at the O2 Arena.

Carlos Alcaraz is returning to action this weekend at the Laver Cup in London. Shortly before the start, he paid compliments to Germany's Alexander Zverev, who will be his teammate on Team Europe. The German is having the best season of his career so far, having already won two Grand Slam titles this year.

"Zverev is probably the best player in the world right now, so having him by my side will be a great advantage," Alcaraz said in London. The Spaniard added that he hopes the two of them will win a lot of points together and that he will do everything possible to make up for the lack of a trophy last year.

Alcaraz missed more than four months of the season due to a wrist injury sustained in April. He recently made his return to the tour at the US Open, where he was knocked out in the quarterfinals. "I feel great and I'm training well. The US Open was a big test for me, so I can't wait to play here," the 23-year-old added.

This is the Spaniard's first appearance in London this year, after he missed the summer tournaments in the United Kingdom because of the injury. He will also make his debut at the O2 Arena, a venue of special significance for the tennis community. "It's great to play in London for the first time this year. I had my first practice session in the arena, and it really feels special to be here. I'm sure we'll give the crowd some great tennis," Alcaraz said.

Team World has won the most recent editions of the tournament except one, while Alcaraz has a positive record from his appearances so far, in both singles and doubles.
